On May 20 2008 the Brookhaven Borough Family sadly lost one of its own. Our Fire Marshall and Emergency Management Coordinator Jim Voss passed away suddenly. Jim was the most dedicated person we have ever had the privilege to meet. Complete dedication was the only way Jim approached any job. When it came to public safety nobody was more thorough then Jim. His ability and knowledge in Fire Investigations and Emergency Management was not only a major plus for Brookhaven but for the surrounding communities. Jim also had his hand in supporting the Fire Department, Police Department, Health Officer and just about anything else that involved the day to day operation in running a borough. When there was a local emergency council knew that Jim was on the job and working for the safety of our residents. His dedication to his duties and his professional knowledge will be extremely hard to replace. He will be missed by all who knew him both professionally and personally. All of Borough council, the borough staff and the many residents he helped over the years feel this loss. Knowing how thorough Jim was, we know he has already revised the Emergency Management plan for heaven and is asking God what NIMS courses he has taken. Jim will be missed in Brookhaven, and our thought and prayers go out to his family.
