dutton-mansion

Present owners are the Smiths and the mansion is located at 269 Dutton Mill Road. It was built after 1843 in the carpenter or gothic style. Originally the mill owner's mansion, it was part of a complex dating back to Thomas Coebourne in 1686. The property was sold in 1792 to Jonathan Dutton whose descendants maintained grist, saw and flour mills here. The house was damaged in the flood of 1843 and it is now known whether this present structure incorporated the circa 1780 residence or was built entirely new following the flood.
