Built in 1922 with an addition in 1928, it is located at Edgmont Avenue and Brookhaven Road. In 1798, this lot was donated by Caleb Cobourn and James Barton for the purpose of building a school. A log schoolhouse 30 ft. square and one story high was erected here opposite Sneath's Comer. This "George Washington School" was used until 1824 when it was replaced by a stone building with a 30 foot facade. It was remodeled as circumstances demanded and was replaced or encased by the present brick building in 1922. It now houses the borough's administrative, judicial and police offices.
